My Art World

Through following Tara Leaver on Instagram, I found out about a new challenge that she started yesterday called 21 Days in My Art World.  She had been hinting at it for a few weeks and I was curious what it would be about.  Here is her explanation from her blog:

The Struggles of an Artist Part 2

A few years ago I had the opportunity to join some friends for a Continuing Education Ceramic course.  I jumped at it since I missed working with clay a lot.  It ended up being an eye opener for me.  What I learned through out the course was that I really didn't enjoy working with clay that much and I really don't enjoy working in 3-D.  It's difficult for me to take something and mold it into a decent and recognizable shape and it's rather crude looking.  Thus, I finally admitted to myself that ceramics isn't for me and is something I needed to let go of.

The Struggles of an Artist Part 1

It is my experience as an artist that there are times when you lie to yourself or listen to other people, and generally the wrong ones, and as a result your creativity suffers as does the fun of making art; it all just slowly drains away until you're an empty shell.

GW2 LWS 3 Thoughts

(Spoiler Free)

My apologies for lack of posting last week.  Someone gifted me their cold so I was even more wiped out than I have been. Something had to get dropped from the to do list and since I couldn't put words together very well anyway....

With the release of episode 5 for Guild Wars 2 Living World Season 3 on May 8th, I thought I'd share my thoughts about it and the previous ones.  This will be a very generalized sharing of my impressions since I prefer to keep things spoiler free for those who haven't had the pleasure of running the content yet.

Botanical Drawing Challenge

I first caught wind of this challenge in Ravanel's Drawing Diary: January post and I really liked the idea of drawing thirty different plants.  So I headed over to My Open Sketchbook to read Kay's (she's the creator of this challenge) post about it and download the image for the list.  I started the challenge near the end of February and finished it near the end of April.  There were some days I just wasn't in the mood to draw and others I didn't have time or was too exhausted.  However, I persevered and completed it!

Drawing Diary for April

I was going to post a month review for April today but I wasn't having fun writing the post.  I figure if I'm not having fun writing it, then you won't enjoy reading it.  So, since it's now May I thought I'd instead share my creative endeavors from April.

Thoughts on Bill Nye Saves the World

I remember catching Bill Nye the Science Guy on PBS back when I was in high school.  It was by far my favorite educational TV show on science.  I found Bill Nye to be fun and quirky which made the educational part fun.  Plus being a visual learner it helps my understanding a lot when things are shown well along with the auditory explanation.  Thus imagine my delight when I read a couple of weeks ago that Netflix had picked up Bill Nye to do another science show.  What I didn't expect was that it would be up to watch so soon (I'll admit I don't stay up to date on all the entertainment happenings) and of course when I saw that Netflix had it available, I had to start watching.
